Finding a Mountain Home

 There are several ways to find a mountain home and get to know the area.  Look at our Homes By County page for an overview of Central and Southern Colorado by County and study the maps.  If you are looking outside of these areas, we are happy to refer you to a trusted Realtor in that area.

• Have us automate your search. Tell us what you're looking for and you can be set up to automatically receive an instant notification the minute it becomes available. 
• Take a weekend vacation and Rent a cabin using VRBO, AirBnB, or a private vacation home rental website.  Go out and explore the area.
• Use Googlemaps or Google Earth to study terrain, and zoom in to see how densely populated an area is and where important amenities are.  
• Use an online Elevation Finder such as Veloroutes.org  to check the elevation of areas that interest you.  People with heart or lung issues and from lower elevations struggle with altitude due to the reduced oxygen. Take time to acclimate. Altitude sickness is dangerous and is not to be taken lightly.  Take it easy and stay hydrated.  
• Drive around.  Each weekend drive to another region and explore.  Visit the national and state parks in the area and talk to park rangers.  Have lunch, browse the shops, and talk to the locals.  Pick up the local papers and brochures.
